Australia Publishes Consumer Goods (Sunglasses and Fashion Spectacles) Safety Standard 2017

The Commonwealth of Australia has published Consumer Goods (Sunglasses and Fashion Spectacles) Safety Standard 2017.
From 1 Jul 2019, sunglasses and fashion spectacles shall comply with Consumer Goods (Sunglasses and Fashion Spectacles) Safety Standard 2017, which differs from the voluntary Australian/New Zealand standard: AS/NZS 1067.1:2016 Eye and face protection - Sunglasses and fashion spectacles by deleting the below:

In the transition period before 1 July 2019, sunglasses and fashion spectacles may comply with either:
- Consumer Goods (Sunglasses and Fashion Spectacles) Safety Standard 2017; or
 - Consumer Protection Notice No. 13 of 2003 — Consumer product safety standard: Sunglasses and fashion spectacles
 
After 1 July 2019, Consumer Protection Notice No. 13 of 2003 will be repealed and only the new standard will be in effect.
